How do I connect FutureRIP SE to my printer?
FutureRIP SE uses a Windows Printer as a handle to send print
data. This allows the data to be spooled over
networks and through custom ports such as USB
and TCP/IP etc.
If you do not have a standard Windows
Printer Driver installed for your printer, just install a Generic Text Only Printer, and set the Port to the correct location (i.e.
LPT1 etc). From the Output section in
FutureRIP SE, just select the Windows
Printer that is connected to your printer, and the data will be sent to that location.
Note: It does not matter what Printer Driver you use, as the printer codes come from
FutureRIP SE not the
Windows Printer Driver. All that
actually matters, is the port settings of this
Printer Driver.
When I RIP a job, the information is transmitted very slowly, and in
bursts!
Restart your computer, and enter the BIOS window
(keep clicking on delete). Make sure that you have the Parallel Port set to ECP+EPP
(Enhanced Parallel Port).
How can I speed up transmission to a parallel port printer?
There are various devices available to convert a parallel port into an
RJ-45 network cable for fast data transfer. For more information, contact
Future
Corporation.
If my computer is too slow, what is the best way to RIP a File?
If your computer is not fast enough to simultaneously RIP and Print a file, you should select the
'RIP to File' option. Once the file has been processed, you can then simply transmit the file to the printer. This will mean much less work for the computer, allowing it to keep up with the printer.
