To Install
Font Detective
To install Font Detective insert the CD into your computer's CD
Drive and wait for the program to
Auto-Run. If nothing happens after a
minute or so, open Windows Explorer and
expand the Font Detective CD icon and
click on cdmenu.exe to run the
introduction program. Next click on the
Copy Fonts button and check all the
Programs and Fonts you wish to install
and copy. If this fails you can
install from the 'Install' directory of
the CD by going to 'Disk 1' and clicking
on 'Setup'.
Upgrade
Version - If your CD says
Upgrade Version and you've never
installed Font Detective onto your
system before. You may have to install
the primary version first (lower version
#) and then install the
Upgrade over the top. If you have
previously installed FD just click on
Upgrade and follow the instructions.
I
get a Windows Installer message and nothing happens?
If you're running Windows 9X you might
need to install the Windows Installer
software which is present on the Demo
CD. If this software is not
automatically installed go to the
Install directory of the Demo CD and
select the version of Windows you are
currently running, next click on 'INSTMSI.EXE'
and follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart Windows and then install Font
Detective.
The Installation seems to be taking a
long time or hangs?
Stop, shutdown, restart and
try again. If the same thing happens you
may have a scratched, dirty or faulty CD
or a very slow computer. As a rule of
thumb a 486/50Mhz will take approx. 1-2
hours to install FD, while a Pentium
4/2.0Ghz
will take a few minutes. If the CD is
suspect just send back the original and request a new one, see Contact
Us.
After I installed Font Detective my
computer and other programs are playing
up?
This will be a coincidence or the last
in a string of built up problems that
has finally pushed your system over the edge.
All Future Corporation software is
extensively tested long before you ever
install it and does not effect any other
programs or Windows on your computer when installed.
We
take a great deal of care not to effect
your system in any way. Computers can
simply run out of Hard Drive space, system resources, have
faulty RAM, CD Drives, Video Cards,
Motherboards and so on that tinker on
the edge and die just when you install
a program that then appears to be caused
by the installation itself, that in fact,
is completely unrelated and nothing more
than a coincidence.
I have
installed Font Detective but the
'Search' button is Grayed Out?
Font Detective must be registered to
become fully functional - see Registration.
Can I install my copy onto
multiple computers?
Yes. You can install Font Detective onto as many computers as you wish.
However only the computer that is registered will have access to
searching unless you purchase Site License/s for
those other computers you wish to search
fonts on.
What is a Site License?
A site license is the granting of an additional registration number for
Font Detective. Site licenses are usually half price, but do not come with an additional
CD or a Manual and can only be used at the same
premises as the full license or at the
home of the registered owner.
Do I have to purchase site licenses at the same time as the first copy?
No. You can decide to purchase additional site licenses as the need arises.
Why doesn't Font Detective need a dongle/block?
Font Detective uses a digital registration method, removing the need for a dongle/block. Each customer receives a registration number for their computer that unlocks all of
Font Detective's features.
Can I buy a Dongle/Hardware Block protected version of
Font Detective?
No. These devices are expensive and
generally unreliable. In the event of a
Dongle failure you would need to
purchase a replacement and then wait
anything up to a week for it to arrive.
whereas on-line registration can be done
in less than a minute 24/7/365.
